Oakland

Golden Associates is the landscape architect for one of the most exciting reconstruction projects in the City of Oakland.

The 12th Street Reconstruction Project will transform the southern end of Lake Merritt into a major civic park.

This 35 Million dollar project will reduce the existing 12 lanes of traffic to six and increase the size of the park around the southern end of Lake Merritt by 3.5 acres.

This urban design project will improve the pedestrian experience and provide a strong pedestrian connection to civic buildings such as the Kaiser Convention Center, Laney College and the County Courthouse.

A pedestrian bridge will improve the circulation around the lake and by elevating the new 12th Street Bridge, pedestrians and water access will be provided to the Lake Merritt Channel and ultimately the Oakland Estuary.
