Once a part of Mission San Jose, this historic site has been the final resting home for the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose for over 80 years. Golden Associates worked with the Sisters and the City of Fremont’s Historic Architectural Review Board to ensure that our plans supported the goals for this protected site.

Embracing the visitor, a pair of low curved entry walls reinforces the strong axial relationship to the crucifixion scene and formally extends the entry of the Cemetery.

The Sister's religious journey is expressed via subtle changes in the paving pattern. Approaching the site from different directions, the paving pattern is random, the apex of the central axis is circular and surrounded by a red band, representing their new community and religious vows. The approach toward the crucifixion and cemetery includes a cross pattern to symbolize their religious path.
