MONTCLAIR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BIOSWALE, OAKLAND, CA
Golden Associates transformed a previously unused asphalt area into a bio filtration system, which filters the water runoff from the new school building. This bioswale promotes the goals of a California High Performance School and meets the new California state storm water guidelines.

Completed with 100% native plants, this bioswale has many beneficial features such as: filtering the toxins and particulates from the water, allowing water to recharge the local aquifers, reducing the heat island effect from the asphalt, improving thermal conditions inside the building, enhancing the building's visual appearance, increasing biodiversity, providing wildlife habitat, and enhancing educational opportunities for the students and visitors. |
