LAKE MERRITT CHANNEL
(7th & 10th STREET BRIDGE IMPROVEMENTS)
OAKLAND, CA
Officially three separate projects (7th, 10th and 12th Street Reconstruction Projects), the primary goal of these projects is to provide a continuous, at-grade pedestrian and water connection between Lake Merritt and the Oakland Estuary by replacing each bridge. Our scope of work focused on restoring and increasing the wetland habitat.

With an emphasis on bio-diversity, Golden Associates utilized regionally native plant material to encourage foraging and nesting activities of indigenous and migratory birds, and to discourage the overpopulation of geese.
Other landscape site improvements include: establishing boat, pedestrian, and bicycle access along the Lake Merritt Channel; incorporating new public art elements; enhancing adjacent open spaces; enhancing a multi-use path for bicycles and pedestrians; and providing site furnishings.
